Baptism is a public declaration of faith, an outward expression of an inward transformation. It symbolizes the believer’s identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through baptism, we proclaim that we have died to our old life of sin and have been raised to new life in Christ.
Romans 6:4 explains, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Baptism also reflects obedience to Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:19, where He says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
It is a significant step of faith, demonstrating a personal commitment to follow Jesus, as expressed in Galatians 3:27: "For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ."
Baptism doesn’t save us, but it is a powerful symbol of the salvation we have already received through faith in Jesus.
Our next baptisms will be on Sunday, February 23, and if you’d like to get baptized you can sign up to do so at one of our three service times: 8:30, 10 or 11:30 am. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
